Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Three or more years of related experience in prospect management, research, tracking, data analysis, or related development field or a combination of institutional development experience, preferably within an academic, medical, or major research institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, and complete projects within specified timeframes.
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and sensitivity.
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines, be able to handle several projects simultaneously, and be able to shift priorities as needed.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.  Strong self-motivation, initiative in follow-up, problem solving skills, and a drive to meet set goals.
  • Ability to locate and interpret financial and biographical information from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • This position requires travel, irregular hours and communication with volunteers outside regular business hours.
  • Diplomacy; ability to cultivate and maintain relationships.
  • Effective facilitator in various settings; analyze data; compose correspondence and proposals.
  • Conduct presentations, document activities, instruct/train others.
  • Prepare reports, research information.
  • Software required:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, demonstrated familiarity with industry-standard sources of data (e.g. Lexis/Nexis, Dataquick, SEC, Hoovers, Boardex, Zillow, wealthscreening data). 
Preferred education experience and skills: 
  • Strong understanding of the issues, nuances and needs of an annual philanthropy program in a health sciences research and/or university environment preferred.
