Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in business, philanthropy, or related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • Must have at least 10 years in fund raising, development, or related field in a non-profit environment.
  • Must have at least 5 years supervisory experience of at least 5 employees.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting encouraged.  Demonstrated understanding of social media outlets and public facing events required. Experience in managing volunteer-led fundraising programs, including those in national regions, is essential.
  • CFRE Certification preferred.
  • Candidate must have significant experience working with a range of volunteers and proven success in delivering quality ROI from revenues via volunteer platforms.
  • Candidate must easily be able to navigate a wide variety of social and business settings and enjoy taking the message of City of Hope to individuals and organizations that are not yet familiar with its work. Previous experience in working with survivors and their families would be helpful to candidate.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills. This position requires travel, irregular hours and communication with volunteers outside regular business hours.
  • Ability to work well in team oriented atmosphere; and to lead/motivate high level donors and volunteers
