- Performs routine and special tests in compliance with written procedures.
- Performs quality control procedures including preventive maintenance and calibrations, and records data on appropriate forms.
- Attends staff meetings and required safety training classes.
- Composes training documents and trains employees in new procedures
- Writes Standard Operating Procedures.
- Writes validation plans for new equipment and procedures.
- Composes new forms, and revises existing documents as needed.
- Documents staff competency by performing direct observations of procedures.
- Assists in gathering data for monthly blood utilization statistics.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to maintain certification/licensure and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- One year Medical Technologist work experience, previous hospital experience.
Required Certification/Licensure:
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, required MT (ASCP) or equivalent national certification preferred.
Preferred education experience and skills:
- 5 years previous hospital transfusion service, or SBB certification
