Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
  • One year related experience, preferably in a hospital or blood center setting, including driving large vehicles (20-40 ft), bus or truck
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with good driving record
  • CPR certification within six months of hire. 

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Class B license with DMV 

Additional Information:

  • Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills
  • Perform responsibly under minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Drives vehicles including passenger vans, box truck, and 39” bloodmobile
  • Answer telephone professionally
  • Maintain logs
  • Input data into computer programs
  • Subject to changing work conditions as encountered in a mobile work environment associated with working out of a van, truck or bus
  • Subject to varying weather conditions
  • Atmosphere and environment associated with patient care areas
  • Atmosphere and environment associated with outpatient care areas
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Possible exposure to infections, or biohazardous agents
  • Possible exposure to hazards of flammable, explosive gasses
  • Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations
  • When not driving, subject to many interruptions; ability to multi-task required
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
  • Occasionally covers varied shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 40 lbs)
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
  • Pushes/pulls moderately filled wheeled carts
