Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- Associate Degree or equivalent in Healthcare or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in healthcare coding.
- Experience in clinical setting, and regulatory compliance preferred. Working knowledge of Medicare Local Coverage Decisions (LCD’s) and National Coverage Decisions (NCD’s), and medical necessity guidelines for all disciplines (primary: lab and surgery services, pharmacy, radiology,).
- Experience with payer coverage and reimbursement issues.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or equivalent certification.
Preferred education, experience and skills:
- Strong clinical education background.
- Payer Coverage and Reimbursement.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
- Coding, Clinical or Billing Compliance.
- Clinical Molecular and Oncology background
- Strong understanding with insurance benefits, billing requirements for third party/government program authorization/documentation and procedures.
