Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • BSN
  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience in an acute care perioperative setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a perioperative setting
  • Must possess a minimum of two years recent work experience in, and complete understanding of, the specific specialty procedures area served.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle negative interactions, multiple projects and interruptions while maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to use problem resolution skills to recognize and investigate unusual occurrences and results
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated formal leadership role (leading, planning, controlling and evaluating nursing practices and operations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
  • Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills
  • Knowledge of word and excel. Strong electronic health record navigation and documentation skills.

 

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room or must obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

 

 

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • CNOR
  • ACLS/PALS
  • Prior experience with service coordination of supply chain preferred

 

Additional Information:

  • Shift: Day – 10 hours
  • Job Status: Full-Time 40 hours
  • Position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement
  • Certification pay may apply
  • To protect the health of patients and staff and to comply with new State of California mandates, City of Hope staff are required to show proof of full vaccination by September 30, 2021.  Compliance is a condition of employment.
