Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- High School or equivalent.
- 6 months related experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of disinfectants, sanitation and cleaning agents; knowledge and experience with cage washers for cleaning and autoclaves for sterilization of supplies preferred
- Be observant, display tact, consideration, professionalism, and maturity
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team is a must
- Meet deadlines and sanitation standards
- Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills
- Maintain logs
- Prepare reports
- Monitor and/or document environmental parameters
Machines/Equipment:
- Gamma-counter
- Autoclave
- Tunnel washer
- Rack washer
- Bedding Dump Station
- Bottle filler
- pH meter
- Floor scrubber
- Electric cart
- Computer
Working / Environmental Conditions:
- Atmosphere and environment associated with animal research
- Exposure to noise, heat, humidity, animal dander, and odors
- Potential exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
- Occasional handling of biohazard and cytotoxic materials
- Use of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time including: gown, coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields, goggles, sleeves, and head covers
- Subject to many interruptions
- Occasional pressure due to deadline requirements
- Weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required
Physical Demands:
- Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)
- Continuous standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, handling, lifting, and carrying required
- Ability to judge distance and space relationships and perceive the nature of sounds by ear.
