Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience may substitute for subject area requirements.
  • Must have at least 8 years estate planning, probate or other relevant legal or planned giving experience.
  • Must have at least 3 years of management experience.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Must be licensed to practice in state of CA.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Juris Doctor or other advanced degree or relevant experience; Certified Financial Advisor or Estate Panning Attorney.
  • Estate Planning Attorney strongly preferred.
  • Philanthropy or Planned Giving experience & a general understanding of development and/or the fundraising process.
  • Legal background that is focused on probate, estate planning and/or fiduciary expertise.
  • Development or philanthropy experience or general knowledge
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills and ability to work well with individuals of all ages.
  • Display tact/consideration in dealing with City of Hope donors, patients and employees
  • Sensitivity to intercultural relations.
  • Foster/promote a positive image and professional appearance
  • Exercises Sound judgement and decision making.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills are essential. 
  • Proficient analytical and research skills. 
  • Demonstrated achievement where initiative, follows through and attention to detail is essential. 
  • Presentation of professional attitude and demeanor. 
  • Possess a technical aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to navigate within a relational database. Ability to work independently, under pressure and manage multiple assignments while maintaining normal workflow.
  • Leadership and management skills with the ability to instruct and train others.
  • Excellent verbal communication and excellent written communication skills.  Ability to understand and communicate with other legal and financial professionals. 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work at a fast pace and manage a high volume of activity.
  • Ability to conduct research, prepare reports and analyze data.
  • Microsoft Office, PG Calc, Blackbaud CRM
